The title for this post automatically generated and honestly, I think it works because this blogging journey finally begins after many months of chewing on the idea, generating lists of what topics I want to write about, asking friends if they think this topic or that topic would be interesting… You get the idea. I was going to say I have mulled on it for so long that if the concept was a keg of apple cider then we would be sharing a glass of mulled cider but then I looked up how long it takes to make mulled cider. I have definitely been thinking about blogging for longer than 15 minutes. I suppose beginning this blog today is also appropriate since it is July 8th and it’s my birthday and what better way to begin a new journey than at the end of completing another one (aka another year on Planet Earth)?

The purpose of this blog is a way to share ideas with the world in some small way and my ideas focus on the concept of “going green.” For most, this probably makes you think about living an environmentally conscious lifestyle and this blog does primarily discuss that. We only have one planet to live on in this solar system and it would be nice if we could all do our part to keep it going for future generations. I live in a small town where the population is about 20,000; that is certainly quite big for some but we are not a large metroplex where options abound for recycling or making environmentally-conscious habits part of our daily routines. Sometimes you have to get creative and be intentional with your choices.

Another part of this blog’s “going green” refers to the importance of one’s fiscal health. I am not a financial advisor nor do I have a background education in finance, banking, or any other heavy-math-related degree. In fact, my educational background is in words with bachelor’s degrees in English and Communications and a Master’s degree in English. However, I want to share the financial experiences our family has had and how we’ve flipped the financial script for our family; we aren’t millionaires or even hundreds-of-thousands-aires but at least I don’t feel like throwing up when I check the mailbox anymore, dreading the possibility of more bills than we had money for. That has to be a positive!

So thank you for joining me on this blogging journey and I look forward to discovering ways to go green in Texas with you!
