I moved offices in the middle of last year and my current space lacks natural light. Actually the entire floor lacks natural light. I’m so close to the roof, I can hear the rain. I also hear the pitter patter of squirrel feet running around. But that’s the extent of nature exposure during my day job. I am not complaining about my office as i am thankful for continued employment during this time but I can definitely tell there is a toll on my mental health when I miss quality interaction with the sun.

I chose to be intentional today on my lunch break and after running errands, I had time to sit down and soak up some sunshine next to the local water feature. I can feel myself relax as I am warmed by the rays, my ears rejoicing in the sound of water falling over rocks. It isn’t for very long but we all need to be intentional and take the time to partake in something that recharges your heart. For me, it’s sunlight and fresh air and maybe a good book.
What recharges you? Partake. Indulge. Be intentional and find a second wind for your day.
